Research

The sector is in transition, so Feed for Tomorrow wants to play a leading role towards the future.

The main goal of Feed for Tomorrow is binding forces in the field of research, development and innovation. By working together, we want to play a leading role in these challenging times. The necessary steps towards an ecological and sustainable food industry must also be socio-economically viable. Only through cooperations, we can reach our goals succesfully.

Feed for Tomorrow is already a driving force within the Feed Design Lab. This is a research - and education center for innovation and sustainability of the animal industry, based in the Netherlands, but supported by the Belgian dome Bemefa. Feed Design Lab opened a sophisticated pilotplant in 2014. Through research, education and the provision of equipment, the sector aims a longterm durability and stability. Feed for Tomorrow and each of its partners aim the same goal.

There are several projects underway in the context of making intensive livestock farming more sustainable. For example, a study is being developed on the valorisation of by-products of the potato industry. And together with lnagro and with other industrial partners there is a research project going on about deepwater drainage.

Mission

Feed for Tomorrow aims to provide a platform for trainingprograms for its workers, which must  lead to the use of new technologies.

To train staff and make them aware of innovative and new techniques: that is our mission. In this way, Feed for Tomorrow also arouses interest among young workers and teaches them the love of the profession. All of them should become an ambassador for the animal feed industry.

Ultimately, training and research must lead to the implementation of new technologies in animal feed production and the use of new raw materials and innovative products.

Goals

The objectives are clear. Safe food, a smaller ecological footprint, and full traceability of the products: that’s what we aim for. These efforts are in the interest of the entire chain, from farmer to consumer. This should result in an intensive, yet sustainable and profitable farming.

The use of innovative materials and innovative technologies will provide efficient meatproduction. The health and welfare of the animal takes an essential place in this entire process.
